Coghlan leads field for 99th Millrose Games High School Mile - complete entrants lists...

NEW YORK - Nine young men and 10 young women will compete on the storied oval, running in the boys\' and girls\' high school miles at the 99th Millrose Games, February 3 at Madison Square Garden. With many of the country\'s best middle-distance runners competing, many eyes will no doubt be fixed on John Coghlan, whose family history at Millrose is incomparable.
The All Ireland Intermediate Boys\' 1,500m champion, Coghlan has never run on an indoor track, but is expected to receive a few pointers from his father, Eamonn, the 7-time Wanamaker Mile winner and long-time\"Chairman of the Boards.\"

The competition for the Millrose title will be fierce, with the likes of National Scholastics indoor champion Dan McManamon of Shenendehowa HS in Clifton Park, NY; national 3,000m leader Brian Rhodes-Devey of Guilderland, N.Y.; and Massachusetts cross country champion Mark Amiraultof Xaverian Brothers in Westwood, Mass., set to compete.

Led by defending Millrose winner and 2004 Foot Locker Cross Country champion Aislinn Ryan of Warwick Valley, N.Y., another stellar field is on tap for the High School Girls\' Mile. Athletes from six states - New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio, New Jersey and Massachusetts, will come together under the lights of Madison Square Garden to compete for the title. Other athletes returning from the 2005 race at Millrose are Danielle Tauro of Southern Regional HS in N.J. (fifth), Kara McKenna of Suffern, N.Y. (sixth) and Lindsay Ferguson of Saratoga, N.Y. (seventh).

With two entrants in the boys\' mile and Ferguson competing in the girls\' race, Saratoga Springs will become the first high school to represented by three competitors in the high school mile races in the same year at Millrose.

With just a year to go before its centennial running, the 99th annual Millrose Games is the oldest continuing sporting event at Madison Square Garden.
Tickets are on sale through Ticketmaster by phone (212-307-7171); via Internet at www.ticketmaster.com; at a Ticketmaster outlet near you; or by visiting the Madison Square Garden ticket office.
