ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell cross country teams will host the 25th annual John Reif Memorial Run at the Moakley Course on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course on Friday afternoon to close out both the regular season and the home schedule for the teams this fall.

Although no team score will be kept, Big Red harriers will compete against teams from Syracuse, Buffalo, Cortland, and SUNY-College of Environmental Science and Forestry, along with several club and unattached athletes.

A women's and men's 5K will start at 4:30 p.m. and a men's five-mile run will be contested at 5:00 p.m.  In both cases, because of severe flooding on the course earlier in the fall and continued soggy conditions, the traditional Gorge loop that concludes the course has been removed, as it was for the Army-Binghamton-Cornell tri-meet in early September.

The Reif Memorial Run honors the memory of John Reif '86, who died tragically in 1987 when hit by a motorist while training as an elite cyclist.

Once again, the Reif is the final regular season meet of the season for the Big Red. Both the men and women will compete next at the Cross Country Heps on Oct. 29.  For the first time in nearly 35 years, the Cross Country Heps will not be contested at Van Cortlandt Park but will instead be held at Princeton's West Windor Fields due to ongoing contruction issues at venerable Van Cortlandt.
