Men’s Track & Field In Ninth Place After Day One At NEC Championships

– The Wagner College men's track & field team currently stands in ninth place after the completion of six scored events following day one of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Outdoor Championships. The running event finals along with the remaining field events will be completed tomorrow.

The 4x800 meter relay team consisting of freshman Faisal Abdillahi (Lewiston, ME), junior Colin Macdonald (Dix Hills, NY / Commack), freshman Daniel Zaccariello (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph's By The Sea) and junior Thomas Iannacone (Havertown, PA / St. Joe's Prep) placed fourth with a school-record time of 7:44.69 while scoring five points for the Seahawks.

Zaccariello and Iannacone also advanced to the finals in the 1500 meter as Zaccariello took second in his heat and fifth in the preliminaries with a time of 3:58.99. Iannacone joins Zaccariello in tomorrow's final with a time of 4:00.26, which placed fourth in his heat and ninth overall.

In the 10,000 meter run, junior Zachary Spector (Yaphank, NY / Longwood) finished fifth with a time of 31:57.88 that garnered the Green & White five points.

Tomorrow's action resumes at 10:00 am with the men's shot put.
