Wagner Competes At Monmouth Invitational

Junior Tiffany Dawson Sets School Record In The Triple Jump

Wagner's men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Blue-White Invitational held Saturday afternoon at the Multipurpose Activities Center at Monmouth University. The inaugural meet featured five teams and over 480 entries.

Wagner junior Tiffany Dawson (Staten Island, NY / Curtis) broke the school record and clinched the top spot in the triple jump by leaping an impressive 11.78 meters, a mark that was nearly half a meter more than her previously held personal-best. Dawson's record beat out the former top measurement of 11.57 set back in January of 2010. Dawson also placed second in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.29.

Morgan Kaisershot (Elko, NV / Elko) captured a second place finish in the long jump landing with a mark of 5.38 meters which is a new personal-best for the sophomore Seahawk while senior Mishelle McNamara (West Covina, CA / Covina) took top honors in the pole vault clearing the bar at 3.35 meters.

Senior thrower Samantha Schueschner (Brookfield, CT / Brookfield) also recorded a personal-best mark and a fourth place finish in the weight throw event by heaving the implement 14.87 meters.

Taylor Fredrickson (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) took second in the 3000 meter run setting a personal-best and team-best time of 10:37.69.

On the men's side, freshman Faisal Abdillahi (Lewiston, ME / Lewiston) took fifth place and set a new personal-best time in the 800 meter run finishing the race in 1:58.20. Abdillahi also led Wagner's 4x400 meter relay consisting of Brian Doxey (West Islip, NY / West Islip), Anthony Mancuso (Staten Island, NY / Monsignor Farrell) and Michael Baio (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph's By The Sea) to a first place finish with a time of 3:34.24.

Wagner track and field is back in action at the NEC Championships held on Saturday and Sunday February 12th and 13th in Prince George, Maryland.
