Millrose Mile Fields Set

 

 

 

 

MLK Day Open, GA: Shelby Ashe, GA, is ebbing ever closer to the 70' mark, this time launching the 20lb weight a monster 69-04 for the furthest throw ever outdoors, and significantly better than her indoor national record.  Ben Glauser, GA, launched a US#1 in the boys 25lb weight throw with a distance of 72-03.75.  

 

 

 

Yale Track Classic, CT:  In the boys 3000 meter run Liam Hillery, Smithfield RI, won with a US#2 time of 8:40.57.  Cole Townsend, Canisius NY, was 2nd with a time of 8:41.72.  Out of the 2nd heat Owen Skeete, Westbury NY, wound up with the third fastest time with a 8:42.97.  The girls 3000 meter run was smoking with Lindsay Crevoiserat, Glastonbury CT, winning with a new US#2 time of 9:41.99.  Lizzie Predmore, Shenendehowa NY, was 2nd with a US#3 time of 9:42.53.  The boys of Shaker, NY moved into the US#1 spot in the DMR with a very quick 10:22.53.  Five girls teams moved in front of the current US#1 DMR time set by Benjamin Cardozo, NY.  Lincoln-Sudbury, MA won the event with a US#1 time of 11:51.47 with splits of 3:38.4, 63.3, 2:20.5 and 4:49.3 anchored by Andrea Keklak.  Shenendehowa, NY finished second in 11:51.62 for a US#2, followed by Glastonbury, CT in 11:52.59 (US#3), Saratoga, NY in 11:53.81 (US#4) and Ward Melville, NY in 12:05.14 (US#5). Cornwall, NY finished in 6th place for a US#7 time of 12:13.22 followed by Northpoint, NY finishing with a 12:18.17 for US#9.

 

 

New Balance Games, NY  Live Broadcast | Individual Events | Armory statement on 500 NR | Boys Invitational Mile: Chad Noelle, Greene NY, rolled in the boys mile to win in a time of 4:11.64 to lead the nation!  He is off to Millrose, joined by Jeramy Elkhaim, and Jeff LaCoste, Bishop Guertin, who were 2nd and 3rd overall.  Girls Invitational Mile: Angel Piccirillo, Homer Center PA, won the race with a time of 4:56.52 with Molly McNamara, Red Bank Catholic NJ, a close 2nd in 4:57.29.  Both runners are guaranteed a spot in the Millrose Games mile next Friday.  Boys 800m Relay: Sheepshead Bay, NY, and Medgar Evers, NY, were tight to the line with times of 1:30.45 and 1:30.47 respectively.  Girls 800m Relay: Medgar Evers, NY, didn't have to better their US#1 time in winning this race, cruising home with a time of 1:41.18.  Girls 500m dash: Olivia Baker, Columbia NY, won with a quick 1:13.51 for a new US#1 time.  Boys 500m dash: Najee Glass, St. Peter's NJ, won the boys race with a new national record time of 1:02.22, breaking a 27 year old record!  Girls 4x800: Strath Haven, PA, rolled to a US#1 time in the 3200 relay by posting a 9:18.15 winning time!  Girls 1600 SMR: Neptune NJ lowered their US#1 time big with a winning time of 4:00.33.  Boys 1600 SMR: Columbus NY rolled to the win in the boys race with a US#1 time of 3:32.24

East Coast Invitational, VA: At the 52nd annual East Coast Invitational (oldest actively run indoor meet in Virginia), Cosby junior Megan Moye defeats Foot Locker finalist Mattie Webb of Western Albemarle by six seconds in the 1600 meter run posting a great time of 5:06 on the Arthur Ashe Center's 145 meter spikeless track surface to break Sarah Bowman's 5:11 meet record from 2005.

St. Christopher's Invite, VA: Lee-Davis senior Cody Snyder continued his strong indoor season of success (4:16 1600, 2:31 1000) and remaining undefeated but not without a tough and close race from his Central Region rival in Brayden Burleigh of Midlothian. Snyder edged Burleigh out by the narrowest of margins in the 1000 meter run with Snyder the winner at 2:33.45 and Burleigh in second at 2:33.46. Returning Virginia 3A indoor state champion Montasia Golden of Lee-Davis was a double winner in the jumps with marks of 18'1.75" in the long jump and 37'8.50" in the triple jump. St. Catherine's senior Taylor Clevinger followed up her 3:01 PR run in the 1000 last weekend with a 1:17.54 500 PR in a spirited race with 1600 meter winner Marie Johnston (5:15.86) of Midlothian in second under 1:18 as well at 1:17.77. The St. Christopher's boys proved that the relays are the cornerstone of this year's squad showing range in winning the 4x200 (1:33.84) and 4x800 (8:05.48) with their time in the 4x800 being the fastest of the season in Virginia. St. Christopher's 4x800 meter relay leg Ben Constable later won the 500 in a time of 1:07.73. Tiel Westbrook of Lee-Davis dropped 8 seconds in three weeks from her race at CNU in the 1000 with a state automatic qualifier of 3:03.78.



Mid-Area Track Classic, VA: Atlee pole vaulters Cameron Overstreet and Chris Pillow continue to set the bar high for themselves this season and had another high flying day in the pole vault in the Friday evening invitational at Liberty University. Consistency by both this season has been commendable in the event with new Virginia state indoor record holder Overstreet again well over 12 feet at 12'3" on Friday, while VA #3 indoor all-time performer Pillow stayed over 15 feet as well at 15'6". Last spring's surprise VA 3A outdoor 110 meter hurdles champion Vincent Wyatt of William Fleming made his indoor season debut with a 7.63 victory in the 55 meter hurdles. Blacksburg girls had their top 2 distance runners back racing for the first time in 2011 with strong returns for Sarah Dorrell winning the 1000 in 3:00.05 and Hannah Brown edging out Cave Spring freshmen Katie Fortner (5:11) in the 1600 with a 5:09 performance. Blacksburg also had another individual champion in Alyn Carr, who won two sprint races in the 55 (7.26) and 300 (42.7) as well as helped the Blacksburg girls take first in the 4x200 as well at 1:48.56. A deep boys 1000 with 5 under 2:40 as Blacksburg senior George Carter followed up an easy 4:20 win in the 1600 with 2:34 victory in the 1000. Two Group AA jumpers went over 45 feet in the triple jump and should be in the mix for state titles later this season with Heritage's Xavier Calloway at 45'6.75" and Charlottesville's David Johnson at 45'4.25".
