Shelby Hayes finished in second place just minutes ago at the Jim Ryun Dream Mile in n New York. Hayes went into the absolutely stacked field not considered one of the favorites. She shaved ~8 seconds off of her previous best to run an unofficial 4:43 for the full mile [her previous best 1600m time was 4:50.54]. That time is a new state record over legends such as Jenny Barringer, Jackie Areson, Betty Jo Springs, and Robin Campbell.
