Women’s Track and Field Competes in First Day of the Penn Relays

Philadelphia, PA – Senior Brecken Drager (Loomis, CA/Del Oro) and sophomore Sheena Taylor (Twinsburg, OH/Detroit Mercy) led the way for the Wagner College Women's Outdoor Track Field team at the first day of the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, PA on Thursday. Drager registered a season-best time in 3000-meter run while Taylor placed 14th in the Shot Put.

Drager finished the 3000-meter run in 9:56.39. The time is new season-best for the Seahawks, improving on the old mark of 10:18.05 set by Drager at the Stockton Invitational on March 20th. She finished 16th in the event out of 25 athletes.

Taylor was equally impressive in the Shot Put – registering a 12.36-meter distance. She place 14th in the event out of 26 athletes. The 12.36 mark is her fourth longest distance this season.

Other impressive finishes include the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. The members of the two teams, Francyna Evins (Staten Island, NY/Curtis), Tiffany Dawson (Staten Island, NY/Curtis), Amanda Gland (Woodbury, CT/Nonnewaug), and Jessica Balling (Seaford, NY/MacArthur), finished with the third-best time in the 4x100 (51.51) and registered the second-best time in the 4x400 (4:07.76). Wagner placed 92nd and 78th in the events, respectively.
