Staten Island, NY – Sophomore
Sheena Taylor (Twinsburg, OH/Detroit Mercy) added another record breaking performance to her impressive rookie year with a 12.89-meter distance in the Shot Put at the Wagner College Quad on Wednesday. Taylor finished second in the event and raised the bar on her Wagner College record 12.73 mark set on March 20th.
Taylor's day ended with two second place marks and one first place finish. After claiming second place in the Shot Put, Taylor finished second in the Discus with a personal-best 34.54-meter distance. First place in the event was junior
Samantha Schueschner (Brookfield, CT/Brookfield), who had the second-best distance of the season with a 36.53-meter length.
Taylor took top honors over five other athletes in the Hammer Throw with a 43.69-meter mark. It is her second-best distance this season.
In track events, the Wagner women dominated the 100-meter run with three personal-best times. Sophomore
Francyna Evins (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) led the way, finishing third out of 13 athletes with a season-best time of 12.87. Not far behind were freshman
Tiffany Dawson (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) at 12.9 and junior
Danielle Diodati (Haverhill, MA/Central Catholic) at 12.95. Dawson and Diodati finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Junior
Jessica Balling (Seaford, NY/MacArthur) provided another first-place finish for the Seahawks in the 400-meter dash. Balling claimed a season-best finish in the event, finishing in 1:01.25.
The Seahawks travel to the METS Spring Championships in Palisades Park, NJ on Saturday.
