Zachary Spector (Yaphank, NY/Longwood) and freshman
Matt Driscoll (Lewiston, ME/Lewiston) started the Wagner College Men's Outdoor Track and Field season on a high note with impressive finishes at Richard Stockton Invitational held in Pomona, NJ on Saturday. Spector claimed the team's only first place finish, while Driscoll finished with two top-20 finishes.
Spector took first place out of 25 athletes with a 15:50.65 finish in the 5000-meter run. In his first outdoor collegiate meet, Driscoll finished 16th out of 43 athletes in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:07.14. Adding to the freshman's impressive day, Driscoll later took 6th place in the 1500-meter even with a time of 4:11.48.
Other impressive finishes include senior
Matt Villane (Monmouth Beach, NJ/Shore Regional), who finished the 800-meter dash in 2:11.78 for 22nd place, and sophomore
Jeffrey Caravello (Cranford, NJ/Cranford), who registered a 4.01-meter mark in the Pole Vault for second place honors.
The Seahawks take part in the Monmouth Invitational next week in Longbranch, NJ. The event is scheduled for March 27th.
