FULL RESULTS
Landover, MD – The Wagner College Women's Indoor Track and Field team finished in tenth place at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Indoor Championship presented by Road Runner Sports this weekend. Long Island University won the event with 149 points. Monmouth University finished second with 130.5 points, while Sacred Heart placed third with 89 points.
As they have all season, senior
Amanda Gland (Woodbury, CT/Nonnewaug) and sophomore
Sheena Taylor (Twinsburg, OH/Detroit Mercy) led the way for the Seahawks. Gland placed fifth in the Triple Jump event with an 11.44-meter leap. The mark is her second-best finish this season. She had an 11.57-meter mark at the METS Indoor Championships on January 30th. Gland also excelled in the Long Jump, placing 14th out of 33 athletes with a 5.04-meter jump.
Taylor continued her dominate performance in day two of the event. In the Weight Throw event, Taylor registered a 16.31-meter distance. The mark is her second-best this season, having qualified for the ECAC Championships on March 6th with a 16.64-meter distance on February 5th at the New Balance Invitational.
Also performing well for the Seahawks in day two was sophomore
Francyna Evins (Staten Island, NY/Curtis High) and junior
Jessica Balling (Seaford, NY/MacArthur). Balling placed third out of nine athletes in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:18.55. The time is a new season-best for the Seahawks, having topped the previous best of 1:21.18 set by Balling on February 12th. Evins finished with her second-best time of the season in the 400-meter dash at 1:03.22.
The Seahawks return to action on February 26th when they travel to the NYU Fast Track Invitational.
