DeRoo Leads Women's Track at Class of '32 Invitational

—The Colgate University women's track and field team captured five victories to earn a 21.5-point victory in the Class of '32 Invitational at Sanford Field House. The Raiders finished the day with 94.5 points, while runner-up Binghamton had 73 points.

Sophomore Elise DeRoo (Newton, Conn.) earned the Katie Almeter Most Valuable Player award for the women after winning the mile with a personal-record time of 5:00.85. DeRoo's time is the fastest in the Patriot League this season. DeRoo was also the anchor leg of the Distance Medley Relay team that finished first with a time of 12:24.66, the second best time in the Patriot League this season.  
 
In the 1,000-meter run, sophomores Chelsea Burns (Seattle, Wash.) and Kendall Lyons (Wilton, Conn.) finished first and second with times of 3:00.82 and 3:00.98, respectively. Both times were personal-records and in the top-10 of the Patriot League.

Senior Ashley Niness (Berwyn, Pa.) won the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:18.40, to headline the sprinting events, while junior Michele Miller (Silver Spring, Md.) finished fourth with a time of 1:20.35.
 
The Raiders return to the track on Feb. 6 at the Syracuse Invitational.
