ITHACA, N.Y. (12/6/09)—Senior Lauren Abuouf (Livingston, N.J.) set a personal-record in the weight throw as the Colgate women's indoor track and field team kicked off its 2009-10 season Saturday, Dec. 5 at the annual Cornell Relays.

No team scores were recorded in the season-opening meet with the Raiders competing in a small selection of events.
 
Abuouf finished second in the weight throw with a PR of 15.34m (50-4.0'), the second best mark in school history behind Jennie Chaconis '01 who reached 15.44m (50-6.75') in 2001. Abuouf also finished fourth in the shot put with a mark of 11.61m (38-1.25'), her second best performance.

In the sprinting events junior Michele Miller (Silver Spring, Md.) made her season debut placing eighth in the 300-meter dash with a time of 42.67, senior Ashley Niness (Berwyn, Pa.) finished eighth in the 500-meter dash snapping the tape with a personal-best time of 1:20.46.
 
The Raiders will take the remainder of the calendar year off and return to action at the Cornell Open on Jan. 8.
