It was a great day for PA in New York. On Long Island at the Foot Locker Northeast Regional, North Penn's Brad Miles became the first PA harrier since Dan Coval in 1998 to win the race - going 15:52.8 in cold and windy conditions. Four places later, Mount Lebanon senior Rad Gunzenhauser was the 5th qualifer for San Diego, going 16:05.7, and Ryan Gil, North Allegheny, was 8th in 16:10.8. Sara Sargent was never worse than 8th in the girls' race, and that is where she comfortably punched her San Diego ticket, going 18:42.2.
And Jacy Christiansen, a junior from New Hampshire, finished 5th and qualified as an individual. She is the youngest of the Christiansens who ran so well for Greenville HS in PA. Older sister Jesi and older brother Jed, each won state titles, Jesi in XC and Jed in Track. Jesi graduated in 2003, Jed in 2005. A story from when they moved in the summer of 2005.
Foot Locker Coverage:
In addition to the four finalists from PA, junior Jacob Kildoo, Grove City, was in the mix until the final 800 meters. In fact, he was a strong 9th at the top of Cardiac Hill. He would finish 12th in 16:20.5. Dallastown senior Chuck Lockwood also had a top 20 finish, getting 19th in 16:31.0. Wilson (3)'s Maggie Lawrence, a junior, who just missed a medal at states in AAA, earned a 22nd place finish in 19:31.6. Elaina Balouris, a senior, was also up front much of the race, eventually taking 26th in 19:33.7. Boyertown senior Elizabeth Simpson put herself in the lead chase pack as they entered the picnic grove at 1.25 miles, but eventually finished 28th in 19:36.6.

NXN Coverage:
After NXN qualifier and region runner-up Germantown Friends with 156 points, three PA teams competed in the race. PA #1 West Chester Henderson was 8th with 201 points; PA#5 Altoona was 10th with 261; and PA #4 LaSalle was 11th with 265. PA#3 North Allegheny - an at-large selection for the 2008 race in Portland, did not compete.
