CIAC Indoor State Open Recap

Girls Relays

4x200m

The strategy was simple for both teams. For Danbury, get the stick to Alanna Smith on the second leg devoid of traffic issues and let her run about 220m to open up a big lead for the Hatters and just hold on. For Sheehan's more balanced squad, the idea was just not to panic when that big lead opened up at the halfway mark and just use the second part of the race for a comeback. It almost worked for the Titans in the first race of the day, but Danbury hung on for the win. Bloomfield came up for 3rd, while Staples won the third section and beat out Glastonbury for 4th, and East Hartford got 6th from all the way down in the second section.

4x400m

As surmised in previews, it was indeed Naugatuck that had the freshest legs at the end of the day to earn the Greyhounds their 10 points at the meet. Allison Murphy had a monster anchor leg to bring Naugatuck back and pass Windsor, who took the silver. Simsbury and Bloomfield went 1-2 in the second section and were sandwiched for 3rd and 5th around Weston, which ran in the third and seeded section.
