Boys Class L
Three state records could be challenged in the Class L meet with Gavin Sherry posting killer times in the mile and 2 mile this year that are far better than the existing 1600m and 3200m marks, the latter of which he owns from his time at the 2020 CIAC Open. Gary Moore Jr. has been hovering around Mel Taylor's 53-year-old shot put record all season and missed by just an inch last Sunday at the SCC championship. Timothy Watson would need a considerable 4-inch extra boost to reach the 30-year-old high jump record, but anything's possible.
The team battle here favors SCC champ Xavier, which amassed a huge winning margin on Sunday even without star runner Eamon Burke, and the deep Falcons should challenge in most events with Alexander Ushchak, Brody Santagata, Dillon Luke, and Hunter Feitel combining with Burke for a lot of points and a very strong lineup for the relays. Moore, Ralphael Hawkins lead a Hillhouse team that will also be a force in many events.
Gavin
and Callum Sherry will be looking to provide a windfall in the distance
and 4x800m events, Francis Porrini, Jarrett Boxley and Malachi Jones
should help get Bristol Central up among the top six teams, and Watson,
Connor Aldrich and Kyle Paterson should also make a lot of noise for
Simsbury.
