Lipari may be out for remainder of season

Roslyn senior Emily Lipari, the two-time defending Class A state champion, will sit out what would have been her final cross country state meet. Lipari said felt pain in her ankle after the Section 8 conference championships but ran through the discomfort all week and even at the Section 8 championships.

Lipari said she could barely walk the next day. She had an MRI Tuesday and when she received the results yesterday her doctor advised she not race. Lipari, who made a verbal commitment to Villanova, hopes to return in time for Foot Locker Regionals Nov. 28, which means she’ll also miss the New York State Federation championships next Saturday. It also means that if she can't return by then that she's completed her last cross country season for Roslyn.

“I’m so frustrated,” she said. “I wanted to run this weekend. I felt so ready.”
