Sherry and Aidan Puffer destroyed that old 9:06.06 state record from a week ago and the truly ancient meet record of 9:07.63 from six years ago as both dipped below 9:00, with Sherry at 8:54.47 for US #1 and Puffer at 8:59.25 for US #6. For a while it seemed that two more ghost runners had added sub 9:00 times to the records, but that glitch got cleared up. Sherry and Puffer ran their customary race together but just much faster, and there's no place that any of this is heading except down, down, down. Nicholas Bendtsen finished 3rd at 9:18.36 with a time that places him among the top 40 in the US. Sherry's twin Callum was 4th, Nate DeAngelo was 5th, and Vebjoern Roeed placed 6th to finish off Conard's great showing here with 15 points for the Chieftains. Four sophomores were among the top nine finishers here, again raising questions about just what was in the water sixteen years ago in CT.
