Before top-seeded and top-ranked Simon Jupp hits the 300m finals, he will have his 600m tucked away. He will again be facing LL 300m comrade Caleb Owen here, and M champ Jack Olender and L winner Talib McBride and runner-up Jose Ramirez are in striking range. Jupp's best mark is a 1:21.20 from a New Balance Games win but it was run at the faster Armory track. Jupp was 3rd last year in the Open, and Ramirez was 4th. In the last two Opens, guys from the seeded section have captured the top four places, but a very dark horse candidate here might be the final qualifier Amit Markos who is 5th ranked in the state's 600m results at 1:23.70, but again from a time at the Armory.
