Girls Sprints
55m Hurdles
Meet Record: 8.25 Last Year's Winner: Tess Stapleton (Fairfield Ludlow) 8.25*
Tess Stapleton
of Ludlowe is looking for a repeat LL championship after setting the meet record last year. Stapleton can then aim for a third straight Open win, and she is only a junior. Her freshman sister Tia Stapleton enters with the next best seed time of 9.26, more than a second behind Tess's 8.08 set at the FCIAC championship. The rest of the top contenders include Norwalk's Christline Edward (9.37), Glastonbury's Zoe Spann-McDonald (9.42), Amity's Keyanna Miller (9.52), and Danbury's DaNae Sherman (9.55).
55m
Meet Record: 7.12 Last Year's Winner: Kate Shaffer (Conard) 7.24
Though all of the girls' running events should be close competitions, the 55m could be the most open. SCC winner Tiatianna Jones of Hamden at 7.46 faces off against FCIAC champ Florence Dickson of Danbury at 7.50. Grouped closely behind at 7.54 are the quartet of Glastonbury's Samantha Forrest, Amity's Emily Zielinski, Brien McMahon's Peyton McNamara, and Glastonbury's Selina Soule, the top returning finisher from last year at 3rd.
300m
Meet Record: 40.25 Last Year's Winner: Samantha Forrest (Glastonbury) 40.50
2019 champ Samantha Forrest of Glastonbury returns on top with a 40.96 seed from a 2nd at Yale, but teammate Molly Harding beat her in the CCC championship with a 41.19. A little further back among the qualifiers are Danbury's Meilee Kry (42.45) who was 2nd at FCIAC, Greenwich's Zoe Harris (42.51), Norwalk's Christline Edward (42.82) and Trumbull's Emily Alexandru (42.92).
600m
Meet Record: 1:35.29 Last Year's Winner: Kamilah Diaz (East Hartford) 1:38.73
The 600m could be wild. Trumbull's Emily Alexandru (1:36.27) and Greenwich's Zoe Harris (1:36.23) got their seed times while going 1-2 at Yale's nice track, but both were beaten by Ridgefield's Emma Langis (1:38.44) at FCIAC. Glastonbury's Molly Harding (1:37.64) won the CCC, and Samantha Forrest of Glastonbury at (1:40.70) has the 5th best time but last year was a scratch in the event. NFA's Kayla Park at 1:40.98 has the 6th best time. Last year's senior winner Kamilah Diaz was not in the final seeded section.
