Summary:  Brooklyn Tech beat Susan Wagner by 5 points last year with frontrunner Aziza Chigatayeva taking the win. This year the situation is different as Benjamin Cardozo again has its customary highly rated top 4 intact. The Judges' Sophia Muccini was injured midway through last season, but she and senior Abigail Perez have been joined by two freshmen, Muccini's sister Siena and Ishil Kirkhan, to build an imposing lineup as Cardozo goes for its third title in five years.

The trio of teams sitting a little ways behind Cardozo include Brooklyn Tech, Millennium, and Susan Wagner. The Engineers' have their own top runner returning after missing a year with injuries, as Lucinda Doogan leads a top trio also including Christy Huynh and Chloe Islip. Millennium is led by Simone Isip, with a top three also including Mika Shiffman and Emily Tozer. Susan Wagner has had some inconsistency and injury issues, but frontrunner Kathryn Altieri is among the top two in the conference and has strong support from Abigail Hughes.

Sophia Muccini and last year's 6th place finisher Kathryn Altieri are the top two rated runners in the PSAL going into Saturday's championship. But Bronx Science's Zoe Cooper had the top time in the PSAL Borough races and placed 5th last year, so there could easily be a three-way battle at the top. Not far behind the top three are Siena Muccini and Lucinda Doogan, so the action should be spirited down that final straightaway at VCP. Virginia Mullen of Beacon could be leading the way in the Individuals race, with South Shore's Deyona Banks also in the running following up on a 2nd place finish last year.
