New York Girls State Rankings - Week 5

Following Week of Saturday, October 13

Week 5 rankings were focused in a big way on the seven varsity races for the girls at the Manhattan Invite. Liverpool again was given the task of taking on a pack of out-of-state powers in the Eastern States race and beat all but one of them, as the Warriors finished 2nd to Claremont of CA. Fayetteville-Manlius was running in the B race and won by a comfortable margin for the 3rd best merge result at the meet behind the Eastern States' top two. Niskayuna and Shenendehowa also finished in the top 10 of the ES with a 5th and 6th. Other teams picking up wins at Manhattan included Shaker in the A, Greenwich in the B, John Jay-Cross River by 2 points over Cornwall in E in the best battle of the day, and Pearl River in the F.

At other big meets, Burnt Hills, Canton, and Duanesburg won the 3, 2, and 1 races at Burnt Hills, and East Aurora and Silver Creek were victors in the Large and Small races at Alden Bulldog. North Rockland won the Suuffolk Officials meet as Katelyn Tuohy blew up the hallowed Sunken Meadow course record in a semi-relaxed fashion. Other teams picking up wins included Lansing at Auburn, Delhi at Newark Valley, Penn Yan and Allegany-Limestone in the Cuba-Rushford Large and Small races, and Norwood-Norfolk in the North Country invite.

The coming weekend of meets includes the Section 1 Coaches meet with another potential destruction of a course record by Ms. Touhy at Bowdoin, the NYC Carnival at Van Cortlandt, and the Clarence, Marathon, Marion, Weedsport, and one of the first of the county meets with Albany kicking it off.
