New York Girls State Rankings - Week 3

Following Week of Saturday, September 29

Week 3 rankings are quite different from last week's lists following high times at the McQuaid, EJ Herrmann, NYC Mayor's Cup, Suffolk Coaches, and Six Flags Wild Safari meets. Many new teams entered the rankings, the A, B, and D classes tightened up at the top, and ten more slots were added to the D list.

Liverpool remains the top team in the state and in Class A following a strong performance at McQuaid, but after losing a dual meet to a resurgent Fayetteville-Manlius, things are getting a little heated at the top. Pearl River remains at the top of Class B, but East Aurora, John Jay-Cross River, Cornwall, and CBA Syracuse are all starting to begin their expected moves upward. Only a perfectly flung pail of water will keep Greenwich from setting up a Witches' lock on the C crown. But the best battle may be in Class D where Maple Grove, Tully, and South Lewis are all running neck-and-neck, though only two of the three can go to States.

A comparative breather looms in this weekend's schedule, but Manhattan is rising up fast.
