Breakdown: Some outside influence is adding some flavor to an otherwise New York rankings dispute.  At Chittenango, Liverpool established themselves as the top team in the state, besting Shenendehowa by seven points in the merge. However, that could swing either way head-to-head, as the top spot in New York State has been the most wide open since the turn of the century. To add to that, throw in Missouri's top ranked squad, Lee's Summit West.  They are a strong team, with true capability to win the meet.  Corning, too, has looked strong, and knows when to peak well.

Individually, the questions are there too.  Brooke Rauber had an exceptional race here last year, cracking the Top 10 All-Time marks.  On paper, she could be unchallenged.  And yet, there is Lee's Summit West, led by transfer Ginger Murnieks.  Last year, Murnieks dropped a 143 Speed Rating at the Nike Portland Invite.  Those kind of numbers are right in line with Rauber, who is racing without her team in this race.  Canyon Crest of CA also brings in Carlie Dorostkar, although the terrain difference has proven troublesome for teams of their region.   Liverpool's Top 2 finishers have rotated since Chittenango, but either of them could be right in the mix too.  They went 1-2 in this race the year before, and are very capable of a repeat performance.
