New York Boys State Rankings - Week 1

Following Week of Saturday, September 15

As expected, Fayetteville-Manlius, Burnt Hills, and Beaver River got off to flying starts to nail down their positions at the top of Classes A, B, and D respectively. Behind the favorites there was still a lot of early movement, especially from perennial powers such as Liverpool and Maple Grove. There are many teams trying to be the big fish in the C class, and Packer Collegiate went out of state to lay claim to the lead there, while Dobbs Ferry and Saranac Lake have the best ratings among the NYSPHSAA teams.

The rankings for Week 1 only include teams that have already run with a strong enough squad to score well enough to make the charts in their class. Teams such as Smithtown, Shenendehowa, Irondequoit, and Pittsford Mendon that have not hit the trails yet with their 2018 edition are instead on a Watch List. The rankings slots will be expanded soon for A, B, and C as more teams get into the action. The McQuaid meet on Sept. 29 will be the big catalyst to explosive action in the class lists.
