Division 2 State Records Now Updated Ahead of State Meet

Back by popular demand, we're giving some love to the little guys.  In particular, the schools around New York State who find their enrollment under 600 students for grades 10-12.  Designated as "Division 2" schools in recent years, we dug into our archives to find the best ever marks run by a D2 athlete.

There were four additions this year, coming from both genders. Jenn Suhr's HS Pent record went down, as did the Girls 4x400m and Steeple.  For the Boys, the DMR mark got a little bit faster.

There were some ground rules we put forth in creating this list.  First, a school had to be classifiable as Division 2 by NYSPHSAA.  This ruled out any home-schooled athletes, or schools from the CHSAA, PSAL, or AAIS.  Next, the school had to be Division 2 at the time the mark was run.  That means schools like Pearl River, who are Division 2 now, don't count in 2014, when they were still Division 1.  So Kelly Hayes Steeple mark is omitted.  And lastly, for marks that began before the advent of the divisional system, we assumed a line of best fit in population growth for Division 2 enrollment (aka Sleepy Hollow).

Either way, we hope you enjoy the compilation.  If you have any corrections, or additions (we need some help in digging into the relay records), feel free to email us at kbrazeil@milesplit.com
