4. Smithtown Upsets Northport

For the second year in a row, Smithtown comes in as the underdog at Sectionals and pulls off the upset. Last year, they were going against Sachem North, which had two of the best runners in the State at the time. This year, they were going up against Northport, who put up a convincing victory against Smithtown the week before at Divisionals.
With a little bit of sickness on the Northport squad, and a little bit of magic from Smithtown, they flipped the script to send them back to states. The name of the game was all about how they dealt with weather change. Going from cold to hot, both teams ran slower team averages than the weekend before. However, Smithtown's was only a three-point swing, while Northport's was much greater. Expect Northport to be back in full force at Regionals.
