Summary: Reigning
national champ Fayetteville-Manlius will again be the huge favorite in
the S3-A.race even though Liverpool is one of the top teams in the state
and has some hopes for an appearance at NXN Nationals. Last year the
Hornets scored a perfect 15, and they could do it again although
Liverpool's Jenna Schulz and Madison Neuner are among the top 12 runners
in the state and should be able to break into FM's top 5. Claire
Walters won last year, and remarkably the top 12 runners from the 2016
S3-A race will be back.

Summary: Westhill
won a close 41-50 decision over Jamesville-Dewitt, but injuries for
Westhill and strong development by JD has switched the positions this
year. Sophia Vinciguerra and Madeline Foss are the favorites to replace their graduated
teammate Hannah Butler as the new S3-B champion.

Summary: A
very young CBA-Syracuse team won a close 59-66 decision over Clinton
last year at Sectionals and then went on to finish 4th at States. This
year the Brothers have been atop the Class C rankings from Septemeber
on, and though the team does not have quite the same depth it had
earlier, CBA should still win the S3-C by a bigger margin this year over
Clinton and Vernon-Verona-Sherrill. Clinton's Eva Borton was the winner
of last year's race and will be the favorite again, but CBA newcomer
Olivia Morganti will give a challenge.
Summary: A
tremendous Sectional battle is shaping up between last year's S3-D
champ South Lewis and a fast-rising Beaver River team. Toss in a Tully
team with Brooke Rauber on the lead, and this should be one of the most
entertaining races on Saturday. The Beavers' depth could be a key factor
here in a race that they lost by only 13 points last year. Rauber is
heavily favored to repeat her win from last year that followed a 2nd as a
7th grader to Sage Hurta in 2015.
