Methuen, Lowell Get It Done At MacDougall


Spurred by a 1-2  finish from teammates Sam Cook and Jacob St. Onge, Methuen High claimed the Open boys' title at the Bob MacDougall Invitational on Saturday. The Rangers had their first four runners among the top six placements en route to 25-39 decision over Parker Charter. Cook was timed in 9 minutes, 57 seconds for the three-kilometer course. St. Onge crossed the line in 10:01.

Lowell claimed the girls' crown, defeating runner-up Lincoln-Sudbury, 45-60.  Sophi Defreitas of Lincoln-Sudbury took individual honors with a time of 11:56, nine seconds ahead of runner-up Riley Korhonen of Parker Charter (12:05).

In the Freshmen boys' 3K, Jacob Bickster of North Andover cruised to a convincing 42-second victory with his time of 10:09. Parker Charter's Joe Korhonen, an eighth-grader, was second in 10:51. Boston College High took team honors with 75 points.

Tewksbury's Makayla Paige dipped under 12 minutes to win the girls' 3K. She was timed in 11:55. Vivian McMahon led Brookline to the team crown by finishing second in 12:04. Brookline defeated runner=up Lowell, 59-80.
