This Year's Outlook
In
the same year that Tully's streak of nine Sectional wins was broken,
Black Knights' frontrunner Brooke Rauber ran to the team's first individual state
championship and has given clear signs that she will be winning many
more. As one of the top rated returning runners in the state, Rauber
could also be in line for a trip to Nationals after falling one place
short of NXN last year. For the Black Knights to get back to States as a
team, an influx of new young runners will likely be needed to overcome
the intact South Lewis and Beaver River teams ahead of them in S3-D.

Lea

This Year's Outlook
With
Sofia, Savannah and Lea DeJordy filling out the top 3 spots for Seton
Catholic-Plattsburgh, the team is well set to run with any team in Class
D. But as always with the Knights, the question in preseason is whether
there will be enough runners to field a scoring team. We're guessing
that the 4th and 5th spots will be filled in, but the Knights will need
more depth if they hope to return to the top 3 finish that they had at
States in some recent years.
Addison
Knights
Section: 5
Class: D
Colors: Maroon and gray
Addison's Veronica Dailey medaled at States last year for the Knights when they were in Class C.
Addison
drops back down to Class D after a one year stay in C, where it lost a
close battle to Waterloo to snap its streak of Sectional wins at two. In
S5-D, the Knights will be jousting with reigning champ
Harley-Allendale-Columbia. With States medalist Veronica Dailey back to
lead a fully intact squad, the Knights may be on track to contend
for a Sectionals title.
Harley-Allendale-Columbia profile moved to Class C preview as a result of reclassification.
Duanesburg
Eagles
Section: 2
Class: D
Colors: Purple and gold
Duanesburg's
Elaine Atanasova raced to a 2nd place finish in the Grout C race and
later earned her third straight States medal with a 16th place in
Chenango Valley.

This Year's Outlook
With
three-time States medalist Elaine Atanasova and 22nd place States
finalist Jen Skeeter back to lead a largely intact team of apparently
all juniors, Duanesburg should compete well this year. The big stumbling
block for the Eagles is the presence of reigning state champion Greenwich in
S2-D, which will make a return to the States meet they last visited in
2014 very difficult.
New York Mills
Marauders
Section: 3
Class: D
Colors: Royal blue and orange
New
York Mills' Abbey Copperwheat (no. 929) and Sarah Sharpe (between Hali
and Hannah Iefield of South Lewis) both qualified for States with strong
runs in the Section 3 Class D race.

This Year's Outlook
Most
of the Marauders are back this year including States finalists Abbey
Copperwheat and Sarah Sharpe. The big problem for New York Mills is that
it is not very deep and in a very tough S3-D section.
Trumansburg
Blue Raiders
Section: 4
Class: D
Colors: Blue and gold
Trumansburg's Molly MacQueen finished 2nd here in the McQuaid A race and went on to take 9th at States to lead her team to 5th.

This Year's Outlook
Trumansburg's top 4 are back from last year's 5th place States team, and that will likely be enough to keep the
Blue Raiders ahead of Elmira Notrre Dame and Lansing this season.
States medalist sophomore Molly MacQueen will try to lead the team to
the next level.
