This Year's Outlook
Waterloo won its 9th Sectional title but first in 15 years when it came out on top in close three-way battle in S5-C, and the Indians then went to finish 8th at States. This year Addison has moved to Class D and Livonia has lost one of its top big 2, so a Waterloo squad with its top 5 back and a frontrunner entering 8th grade looks like it has a good chance for another run at States.

LivoniaBulldogs

Section: 5Class: CColors: Orange and blue

Before she captured the States C championship, Livonia's Hayleigh Palotti put on an impressive display in the McQuaid A race as she powered away for an 8-second win.

This Year's Outlook
Despite a terrific top duo of Hayleigh Palotti and Clarissa Hensler last year, Livonia had its streak of Sectionals streak stopped. States champion Palotti is back to lead the Bulldogs, but a lot of depth will need to be added to beat out reigning champ Waterloo. Palotti though should be well set to defend her own States title, and with a little boost from her 2016 States performance to NXN-NY, a visit to Nationals is in reach.

Newark ValleyCardinals

Newark Valley's Marissa Silba and Kristina Knight (nos. 467 and 463) led the Cardinals to a 6th place finish at States last year.

This Year's Outlook
Most of the Cardinals are back from last year's varsity and the competition in S4-C is pretty light, but the team will need some filling in behind States medalist Marissa Silba and Kristina Knight to get back into the top 3 States position that has been customary in recent times.

This Year's Outlook
The Bulldogs earned their first trip to States in ten years with a fairly young team last season that returns the top 6 runners, and they will be favored to earn a second trip in a row to States. Experience counts in XC, and sophomore Emily Johnson and senior Ashley Kubat will lead the drive to a higher spot this year.
