Alex Harris Grabs 10-Second Personal Best For Pan American Bronze Medal

The trip to Peru for the Pan American Junior Champs was a success for the Villanova-bound Alex Harris (North Rockland).  Harris sat on the trio of leaders through the first 2000 meters of the 3k Steeeple, then began to move up.  Maneuvering around a fallen runner, Harris was 2m off the lead with 200m to go.  The pace quickened, and Harris responded.  Over the final barrier, Harris pushed to the line for a third place finish in 10:14.76.

The bronze medal performance was one of the highest finishes by a New Yorker at the event over the years.  Harris improved her NY #2 All-Time standing in the event. Although unconfirmed, it looks as the mark moves Harris to US #6 All-Time, behind Amy Eloise-Neale's effort at the Portland Track Festival in 2013.  Harris is expected to continue steepling in college.
