After a pedestrian pace through the half mile in 2:16, Robby Andrews (Manalapan, NJ) sat while the rest of the field sped up with a 62 3rd quarter and blasted the last lap, closing the last quarter in 57 seconds. As he crossed the line he let out a huge yell and ran all the way around the other side of the track waving to the crowd. This kid has got all the tools.
Jillian Smith (Southern Regional, NJ) wins the girls mile for the 2nd straight year. Her former teammate Danielle Tauro had won the previous two years.
Bernard Lagat wins 7th Wanamaker mile title, ties Coughlin for all time record.
Dan and Sean Tully of Syosset, NY both ran on Villanova's winning 4x800m.
