Mt. Vernon Alum Steven Gayle Runs World #4 For 200m At FSU Relays

Much like yesterday's story about former Mt. Vernon runner Deajah Stevens, another Mt. Vernon athlete has seen a similar winding road.  Steven Gayle, the 2012 Outdoor State Champion over 400m, first saw his journey take him to South Plains College, a JUCO college.  From there, he transfered to Alabama University in 2014, and has been making an impact with his prolonged eligibility.  One of the top guys over 400m Indoors, he made a statement in the half distance at FSU Relays.

There, he would run a World #4 performance, clocking 20.48.  That is tied for the NCAA Leader this season, as well as the American leader in the event.  Gayle, who has dual citizenship with Jamaica, won the meet in commanding fashion.  You can check out his race above.
