Boston, MA - The BU Track is always one to produce some of the fastest times in the country, annually. This Sunday was no exception, as Edward Cheserek (Oregon) was chasing the Collegiate Mile Record.
But the race wasn't without competition. Utilizing many members from the NJ-NY Track Club, one name gave threat to Cheserek's win. Kyle Merber (alum of Half Hollow Hills West) charged to the line in the final 150 meters to close the gap, and lose out over a lean. However, Merber took home a new lifetime best (indoors or outdoors) with a 3:52.22 performance. That improves his #2 All-Time Indoor Performance for a New York alumnus. Only Olympian Lopez Lomong has run faster. Lomong was a Sudanese refuge, who came to Tully HS in the early 2000's.
