Another National Record For Sammy Watson As 600 Meter Mark Goes Down

Houghton College, NY - She may have missed out on the 1000m National Record at the VA Showcase, but one week later, Sammy Watson (Rush-Henrietta) achieved something that has eluded her both Indoors and Outdoors.  Despite her undefeated seasons stretching back to junior year, Sammy Watson doesn't have an Individual National Record.

Consider that fixed.  Running at the Section 5 vs. Section 6 Invite up at Houghton College, Sammy Watson lowered the State and National record from 1:28.78 to 1:28.67.  The mark will also stand as the Senior National Record, as well as the State.  Watson was already a member of the Indoor and Outdoor National Record SMR teams.

Don't think the competition is over.  The previous National Record Holder, Kam McIntosh (Suffern) will be most likely contesting the event many times before season's end, including a head-to-head matchup with Watson in the 600m at the Armory Track Invite, with a rematch most likely down the line at States.  This record could go down even lower!
