Every year it's the race not to miss. Wll somebody run under 14 minutes? Will Saratoga or FM win? Will a new star be born? Last year Carly Seymour surprised the whole field by running 13:55. What could possibly top that? Be at VCP on Saturday to find out.

(teams listed in starting box order)

Fayetteville-Malius, NY
NY#1, US#1
Green and white bottoms, whte and green tops

Led by Courtney Chapman at McQuaid where they beat Burnt Hills pretty handily, FM are the defending champions here and the defending national champions. Nothing seems to say they won't win this race unless other teams step up their game. Chapman is a favorite for the individual title.

Midlothian, VA
blue and white briefs, bue tops with yellow and white trim, "MIDLO" printed on front

Midlothian was 10th here la year ago and are led by Kathleen Lautzenheiser who was 8th here last year in 14:34.

They were 4th at the McDonald's Marymont race, but they were 100 points behind the winner, Tatnall, DE. Not the same team they were last year and they'll be looking to get closer to the front than they have been this season.

Shenendehowa, NY
NY#5, US#13
Green shorts, white tops
Lizzie Predmore leads the way for the sometimes overlooked Shen team. They placed 5th in this race last year before a slight fade at the end of the season. They'll look to repeat what they did here last year and hopefully finish the season a little stronger.
Voorhees, NJ
NJ#1, NE#2
maroon
Voorhees was 4th in this race last year and they were 4th at the Bowdoin Park Classic back in September. A top team with big time experience, they are led by Melanie Thompson, a definate individual contender.
Burnt Hills-Balston Lake, NY
NY#4, US#7
maroon with white trim

Sam Roecker leads this deep squad that had to be a little disappointed with that 2nd at McQuaid, at least with how far back they were. When they are firing on all cylinders, they can run with any team in the country. Roecker is a contender for the win.
Saratoga Springs, NY
NY#2, US#3
blue with white
Saratoga can win any race they enter. It's that simple. Will they? That's a little more complicated. Led by Sydney King at The Oatlands in VIrginia, where they spread16 seconds from 1-5, this team is really good. 2nd last year to FM 87-159. Expect it closer than that this year. Saratoga has won this race more times than any other team and is very capable of doing it again.
Lincoln-Sudbury, MA
MA#1, NE#1
6th here a year ago and again ranked #1 in Mass. and the Northeast, they have a new coach in Henry Phalen, who was at Bromfield the last few years. Led by Andrea Keklak they finished only 5 points back on Shen at The Bowdoin Park Classic. They could be a top 5 team here.
Great Oak, CA
CA#4
blue with white and some red
A top team in California's (ranked #4), Great Oak makes the trip in with something to prove. Can they handle this hills of Vanny?
Warwick Valley, NY
NY #6-AA
purple with yellow letters, white trim
Led by Lillian Greibesland, who had a break out season on the track last year and anchored Warwick's DMR to a national title and national record at NON. They made a trip to NTN last year with a huge race at regionals. Always dangerous, they may have under achieved slightly this season. THURSDAY UPDATE: Greibesland has a torn achilles and is out for an extended time period. more info here....
Tatnall, DE
DE#1, SE#3

8th here a year ago, Tatnall makes the return trip to prove their worth in the Souh East and try and get to NXN. Led by Julia Bottororff at the McDonald's XC Festival, where they beat Collins on a 6th girl tie breaker.

Suffern, NY
NY#8
baby blue tops with dark lue bottems, big "S"
20th here last year, Suffern is a very good team but probably 2nd tier in this race. Shelby Greany, a three time Footlocker finalist, is a contender for the individual title though. Last year she was 3rd in 14:15. She can go faster. She ran very well last weekend at Garrett Mt. in NJ - 17:55 and won by 73 seconds. Greany is Providence bound next year and she will join Hannah Davidson and Mary Kate Champagne, both top finishers here a year ago,.
Haddonfield, NJ
NJ#2, NE#10
Black with red "H", white trim
Led by Marielle Hall, a junior who won the E Race at Shore Coaches, leading the Bulldogs to the team win. Haddonfield recorded the fastest team average of the day at 20:04. Like their male counterparts, this team does not get the recognition they deserve. A big effort here could change that.
Immaculate Heart, NJ
Navy blue with "IHA" on front
NE-HM, NJ#6
14th here last year but less than 60 points out of a top ten finish. Led by Sarah Pagano, who ran 19:06 at Bowdoin Park in September.
Queensbury, NY
NY#3, US#11
blue and white briefs, yellow top with large "Q"
Danielle Winslow led this team to a big win at Grout last weekend and she could be a contender for the title - she should at least be a top ten girl. Queensbury is tough and their 4-5 have been closing the gap. After struggling at the end of the season last year, they'll hope to finish strong and make a trip to Portland.
Cicero North Syracuse
NY#16-AA
green briefs and and blue tops with "CNS"

Taylor Wendler leads this team that placed 2nd to FM last weekend at Tully.
Oliver Ames, MA
MA#3 DII
black tops and bottom with "Oliver Ames" in red with white outline.
A top team in the smaller division in Mass.
Bromfield, MA
MA#8 DII
blue with large "B"
Bromfield was a very good team last year as they placed 12th in this race. They are good again but probably a second tier team. Emily Jones is a favorite for the title. She has been 4th in tis race the last two years and made 2 trips to Footlocker Nationals. She has the experience - maybe it's her year.
Archmere, DE
SE-HM
green with white trim
Led by freshman Lindsey Olivere, the team finished a distant 13th at the McDonald's Festival a few weeks ago.
Red Bank Catholic, NJ
NJ#5, NE-HM
Green and white with yellow print

Led by Michelle Capozzi, who ran 19:35 at BPC for 8th. Won at South Jersey Shootout in 19:25. While they skipped the Shore Coaches last week, RBC acquitted themselves well at Bowdoin with a 6th place finish. In only other invite this year, they won at the SJ Shootout.

Corning, NY
NY#17-AA
black with white trim, yellow letters
12th at The Oatlands with Kate Rosettie winning the championship race in 18:54. Rosettie is very good and could be in that chase pack. Another team that is very good but in this race, will be middle of the pack.
Ridge, NJ
NJ#8, NE-HM
black shorts with green top, large "R" on front, white trim
Led by sr. Dana Guglielmo in 3rd place (19:17) at Shore Coaches. Behind Guglielmo, Ridge won the B Race at Shore Coaches on 10/4. Running well as a pack, Ridge put all 5 scorers in the top 30 for a 20:25 avg. In their first outing this year, Ridge finished 2nd at the Randolph Invite on a wet, sloppy track.
Seton Catholic, NY
NR
green briefs with blue and white tops, "Seton"
Genna Hartung leads this squad from way upstate, NY (Plattsburgh). 2nd at the NYS Champs last year (Class D) to her former teammate. Hartung was 28th last year in 15:05.
  River Hill, MD
SE-HM
blue and white
defending 2A state champs
Poly Prep, NY
NR
Blue shorts, white and blue tops
Always a strong team in NYC, last year they placed 2nd at the NY Ivy Lague Champs. Julia McMahon leads this team.
Hanover, NH
NE-HM
white with Maroon trim, "H" on top, maroon bottom
s
They won the Manchester Invitational in New Hampshire two weeks ago by 37 points and are led by junior Heidi Caldwell, who was 2nd in 18:48. 3rd here a year ago and 4th at NTN's last year, only 8 points back on Saratoga. They have big meet experience. They lost their #1 from last year but have proven they are very good still.
