St. Peter's Leads Nation's Race To Sub-8 in the 4x800m

Staten Island, NY - There is a certain prestige to it.  Getting that first sub-8 minute time in the 4x800m for the Indoor Season.  Not only does it guarantee a spot atop the national rankings, but also bodes well for further development late into the season. When Chaminade won the National Title in the 4x800m in 2014, they were also the first team under 8mins for that Indoor Season.

St. Peter's of Staten Island, NY took their best attempt at hitting the mark last night.  Running at the inaugural Ocean Breeze Grand Prix Trials, the quartet clocked a Nation Leading 8:01.66, good or US #1 by 3-seconds.  The meet served as a qualifier for the Ocean Breeze Grand Prix, a new event in 2017.  The meet will not only play host to professional and elite athletes, but will be the new host of the annual Boys George T. Eastman Memorial 4 X 800m, a race which has dated back to the 1960'sMore info to follow.

The time is the best mark run by St. Peter's since MileSplit's inception.  They currently hold an Outdoor School Record of 7:43.21, but don't have an Indoor School Record under 7:50.00.  A goal as good as ever to chase after, with plenty of time left in the season.
