Goldstein, Slavin Drop Fast 2 Miles in NY: Ocean Breeze Holiday Festival Recap

A PA#1s fell at the Ocean Breeze Holiday Festival in Staten Island, New York to close out 2016.

Germantown Academy's Abbe Goldstein dominated the field in the 2 mile to run a PA#1 and US#2 10:56.24, a very strong start to her senior track season. Central Bucks West's Megan Kolbe was second in 11:24.35, which is a US#12.

The Strath Haven girls ran a very strong 4x800 to take over the PA#2 spot, just behind county rivals Penn Wood. Strath Haven ran a time of 9:40.35 to win the 4x8 in convincing fashion. They also ran a PA#2 in the DMR 12:55.30 to place fourth in a deep field.

Great Valley claimed the win in the SMR, winning in a PA#3 4:26.67.

Upper Dublin's Madison Langley-Walker took second in the triple jump, her first appearance in the event this season. Langley-Walker jumped a best of 38-7.5, which puts her at PA#2, just a few inches behind state leader Christina Warren of Perkiomen Valley.

Saucon Valley's Talitha Diggs clocked a PA#5 59.20 in the 400 meters to take sixth overall.

Pleasant Valley's Seth Slavin got his indoor season off to a good start. The senior took second in the 2 mile, running a PA#1 time of 9:37.73. Slavin is a returning state medalist from indoors last year in the 3000 meters.

A day after bettering his own PA#2 shot put at the Marine Corps Holiday Classic, Southern Lehigh's Andrew Rochon stayed in New York for the Ocean Breeze Holiday Festival. Rochon took the win in the shot put with a best throw of 53-10.

Starth Haven's Dayo Abeeb continued his strong start to the season. Abeeb placed second in the triple jump to PR with a PA#2 45-10, moving him up the state rankings.

Roman Catholic ran a PA#2 time in the SMR to place second overall. 3:46.41 was the runner-up time of Roman.

In the high jump, Easton's Tawheed Muhammad and Bensalem's Tommy Oliver both cleared 6-2. Muhammad placed fourth, while Oliver was fifth in the competition. 

Bensalem took fifth in the 4x400-meter relay, running a PA#4 time of 3:33.09.
