The Trailer: Fayetteville-Manlius rolled to its 10th national championship by a 140-point margin in one of the most impressive performances by the Hornets at Portland. Though FM was in complete control at the top of the rankings all season, the 2nd spot was less stable and wound up in the hands of Shenendehowa after a string of 2nd place finishes in sectionals, Federations, and then most importantly at NXN-NY led to a trip out west and a 14th place at NXN Nationals. North Rockland was 2nd at States and 1st in the Federation meet, but the Red Raiders fell back at NXN-NY to wind up 3rd in the rankings. Rounding out the top 7 in the Class A rankings were States 3rd place finisher Saratoga, Feds' 4th place team Niskayuna, States 4th place team Monroe-Woodbury, and States 5th place team Corning. Saratoga's Kelsey Chmiel finished 5th at NXN Nationals, and Corning's Jessica Lawson was 8th.
A number of teams were missing top runners at either the Fedaration or NXN-NY meet, so we did our best to weigh the merits of the teams based more on their top performances.
