Summary:

Notre Dame includes the top three or four runners in the CHSAA and has a projected score of 24 and winning margin of 45 points, so there is not a huge amount of drama that can be squeezed out of the Gators' bid for a third straight title. Perhaps of more overall impact is how well the ND squad runs and how high up it can position itself among the top teams in the state going into Federations. But Kellenberg also has put together a solid year while winning the NSCHSAA for the second year in a row, though it finished 3rd behind St. Anthony's in the CHSAA championship in 2015. Now the Firebirds have to hold off a challenge from St. Joseph by the Sea and Sacred Heart to prove itself the second best team in the CHSAA. On the individual side, Sydney Rice won last year's race by 27 seconds, and she has again fought her way back to the top.
