Baldwinsville Invitational Preview

Baldwinsville Invitational: Baldwinsville, NY

This weekend is sure to see some huge races across the state. While many teams will be going down to Chenango Park for the pre-state meet, we see other top teams opting to go for other meets. This year at the Baldwinsville Invitational, we see top competitors from Brighten, Baldwinsville, Burnt Hills, Fairport, Rush-Henrietta, and West Genesee. Due to being on the same day as the pre-state meet, we won't see some of the regular teams at this meet such as FM and Ithaca. Due to this overlap, we will on see their modified or freshman teams competing and the biggest action we will see is in the large school division races.

On the boys' side of racing, we'll see a match up in the large school varsity race against Brighten, Burnt Hills and Baldwinsville for the win. Paul Dellinger of Brighten High School should see himself at the front of the race in contention for the individual victory as he has a bit of a time edge on the rest of the competition. As the team race unfolds, the top teams look to be Brighten and Burnt Hills vying to take down the home course favorite Baldwinsville team. It seems like it will unfold to being a close race between these top teams for the win; it will come down to which team can get more runners into the top ten to decide this race.

On the girls' side of competition, the top teams look to be Rush-Henrietta, West Genesee, and Fairport. If Fairport's girls can continue to all run together and stay to the front of the race, the race will come down just a point or two difference in scores. Individually, Sammy Watson of Rush Henrietta looks to be the highlight of the field, although to be challenged if Carly Benson has regained form.

On both sides of competition, we should see some fast and tight races, which makes it hard to predict the outcomes. The team races are going to be very close finishes so it will bring on strong races from every runner on the varsity teams.
