At the Chittenango Invitational, it was clear that Ty Brownlow and Stevie Schulz  of Liverpool wouldn't be waiting for the rest of the field.  They took off with purpose right from the start, and put in the top two Speed Ratings in the State so far.  Expect no less from Pre-States.  Their goal will be to again go 1-2 in the merge, and take the next step to what could be an eventful State Meet for Liverpool.

They will not go unchallenged.  Kyle Fulk (Norwood-Norfolk) is the top Class D runner in the entire state, and has raced against the duo on the track.  He's well aware of the pace they could provide to the race.  But many threats are coming into the race, including Liam Lyle of Honeoye Falls-Lima.  Lyle ranks in the Top 5 for all runners in Class B, and will be making an impression.  So will fellow Section 5'er Payton Gleason of Churchville-Chili.  He's been steadily on the rise, and will be looking to make his mark.

Two other athletes have taken a big step forward in 2016.  Matt Fusco of Somers is an emerging talent, with two overall wins under his belt already this season.  Jamie Granata of Minisink also has some impressive racing so far, and will be right there in the mix.

The Somers boys team finds itself on the precipice of potential here.  They are currently ranked 11th overall in New York State after two good showings, but will need all 7 teammates on the line, ready to race.  As one of the Top Class B schools in the State, it will have it's hands full against Liverpool, the reigning Class A State Champ, and NXN-NY Regional winner last fall.  It may be quite a different team this year, but with two front runners pushing the score to where it is, Somers will have to essentially score five runners against Liverpool's next best three.  This could be close.
