Sammy Watson, Jazmine Fray Highlight Day 1 of USATF Juniors

Watson moves to 800m Finals on Day 2

After a scare through the first 400m (her heat was by far the slowest through the opening lap), Sammy Watson made sure she would make the final by securing a win in her preliminary heat.  The time puts her in the middle of the pack for the finals, but also means she might have more in the tank than the rest of the field.  Kellenberg Alum, Jazmine Fray also looked strong, taking second in a photo finish in a very quick time.  The way things look, it is very possible for a NY sweep in the 800m

Section 1 Standouts Take Medals

Villanova frosh and Arlington alum Bella Burda took third in the 5,000m.  She maintained in the top pack through the first half of the race, but as the top two pulled away, Burda's battle was for third.

Eion Nohilly had to fight off the time change and the heat, and came away close to his season best in the Steeple, while taking 4th at 9:10.21

Rayvon Grey couldn't repeat his performance from States, taking 7th overall in the Long Jump with a jump of 24-11.
