State of the Action

There was a distinct ebb and flow of the seeded section in the 3000m, which produced 10 girls under 10mins.  Kelsey Chmiel took the race out hard in the first 300m, and the competition knowing her capabilities, went with her.  The pace came through quick, around 71secs, before settling in once again.  As the pace slowed, the big names began to get antsy, and soon began to separate.  Diana Vizza regained the quick pace out front, pulling Jess Lawson in second.  Abbey Wheeler had seen the move indoors, and went with, as did Sam Levy.  The four worked off each other for the next 6 laps, pulling each other around the track, no one giving in.  But the pace took it's toll, and only Lawson had enough in her legs to keep pushing through.  Lawson surged with a final lap to solidify her State Title, two years after first winning outdoors.
