Ok, the big story this weekend may have been Drew Hunter's historic Mile record but he was not the only one rolling on the Armory's fast track in Manhattan this weekend. Nansemond River, or as they are more famously known as, Team War finally lined up a stacked squad in the 4x200. Though they did not run their all-star lineup yet, they did show us what it looks like with three of their four girls running.

Running on this record setting squad was Brandee'Johnson leading off in 24.77, Morgan Towe broke to the inside on the second leg in 24.71, a freshman Kori Carter ran third in 24.59, and junior Syaira Richardson brought them home with the fastest split of 24.60. Missing from the lineup was Dajae' Goulet who has already dropped a couple seconds off of her 300m time this season compared to last.

Entering the season it was apparent they were going to be a special unit. Given you must fight off injuries and run the races and so far so good for Team War. They will enter the National Championships seeded second behind Paul Robeson (NY) who bested them this past weekend. They are not afraid though as they ran without their second best leg which could easily equate to another second or two. It is going to be a fast race.

Historically speaking this is a huge one for Nansemond River as it is their first state record performance ever! That includes both boys, girls, individuals, and relays. Setting this record they break Western Branch's previous 4x200 record set with Keilah Tyson back in 2011. Both squads though have to go down as some of the greatest in the nation's history and just like that Bruins squad this one was led by a superstar talent in Brandee' Johnson. They also become the first team not named Western Branch or Bethel to hold this record since at least 1992!
