PA#1s fell
all over the place at the EmblemHealth Hispanic Games on Saturday at The Armory
in New York. A couple US#1s fell as well
at the hands of some Keystone State athletes. Here's a breakdown of some of the
standout performances of the day.
Girls' relays: Cheltenham had a busy day on the track. The 4x200 meter team of Chanel Brissett, Madison Langley-Walker, Alexis Crosby, and Bria Barnes bested their own PA#1 in the prelims of the event, running 1:40.78. They took third in the finals, clocking in at a 1:42.11 on some tired legs. Central Bucks East made the finals, running 1:44.11 in the trials to qualify, where they wound up fifth in 1:44.96. Penn wood lost their US#1 4x400 to NY's Paul Robeson, but still ran a solid 3:56 with many of them running multiple events earlier.

Girls' sprints/hurdles: Lots of PA names, one queen: Chanel Brissett. Brissett won both the 55m dash and the 55m hurdles. She crushed the current PA#1 in the 55m hurdles, winning in a 7.85 for the win and state-leading time. Her teammate Langley-Walker was fifth in the finals (but ran a faster time-8.18-in the prelims). Perkiomen Valley's Christina Warren was sixth in the finals in a time of 8.29. Not long after that, she won the dash, coming back to nip Norristown's Jayana Webb at the line for a win in 7.12. Webb was second in the same time, while Pennridge freshman Kouri Peace was third in 7.16. PA#1, 2, and 3 right there. Brissett actually ran faster in the prelims, so the PA#1 is currently at 7.11. Pennsbury's Dasia Pressley debuted in an open event, taking the 200 meter crown in a new US#2 24.14 for the win. Peace of Pennridge, continued her tear of a freshman campaign, taking second in a time of 24.55-making her the quickest freshman in the event by a longshot. Penn Wood's Agnes Mansaray ran a PA#1 and DELCO record 55.19 in the 400 meters, just missing out on a win to J'Dai Baker of Benjamin Cardozo (NY) for the win

Girls' distance: Pennsbury's Hannah Molloy held off a hard-charging Julia Stevenson of Hackley to win the 3000m in 10:17, signaling she's in a good spot after a long cross country season. In the mile, Olivia Sargent had a rough go of it, but Germantown Academy's Abbe Goldstein was the top PA finisher in a race that went out slow and turned tactical. Goldstein finished in a 5:01.03 for a new PA#3. Maddie Villalba of CB West was eighth in 5:06.75. From the first heat, Emmaus's Katie Bacher was ninth in 5:07.22, and Perkiomen Valley's Annie Glodek was 12th in 5:10.61. Jenn Mickens of Pleasnt Valley ran a PA#3 800 to take second. Mickens took the lead heading into the bell lap and relinquished the lead late to Coginchaugh's Alexandra Alsup, who took the win.
Girls' field: Souderton's Moira O'Malley claimed her fourth win of the season, winning the high jump, clearing 5-4.
Boys' relays: Abington just doesn't disappoint. The Ghosts continued their great season, snagging yet another PA#1-this time in the 4x400. Abington ran a US#1 3:21.11 for the win. Downingtown West improved their own PA#1 in the 4x200m. The team of Josh McLemore, Ian Alleyne, Nate Alleyne, and Matt McCool finished third in the prelims in a time of 1:30.87. In the finals, they couldn't better that time, settling for a 1:31.03.

Boys' sprints/hurdles: Terrence Laird may have been overshadowed by an incredibly stacked field in the 200 meters. Noah Lyles of TC Williams in Virginia won the 200 meters in a meet record time of 21.25. Laird took over as the new PA#1 in the 200, clocking a 22.09 for the state's top spot. In the 55m hurdles, Upper Darby's Mason Weh took home the win in a time of 7.39, a big PA#1. Colin Harker of Souderton finished fourth in the 55m hurdles in a time of 7.63, a PA#2 and Germantown Academy's Kyle Garland was eighth, running a 7.89 in the prelims. In the 55m dash, GAR Memorial's Anthony Maurent bettered his own PA#1 mark from earlier in the season, finishing third overall in a 6.44. Imhotep's Ade Jones-Roundtree wasn't far behind, clocking in at 6.48, and Bloomsburg's Jahvell Hemphill was third in 6.53, for PA#1, 2 and 3 in one race! Downingtown West's Josh McLemore put up a 48.50 in the 400 to crush the current PA#1 and take over, closing out a successful day for the senior.

Boys' distance: Jaxson Hoey of Downingtown West stole the show in the boys distance events. Hoey blazed a 1:54.52 in the 800 meters to take the big win. That's a new US#1 by a second and half! Quakertown's Brett Wolfinger took out the race in 55 seconds and Hoey made a move on him and never looked back. A strong season debut from him after a long XC season. Wolfinger finished well, coming in third in 1:57. Pennridge's Tucker Desko just missed out on making the fast heat of the mile. He didn't mind, though. Desko took out the mile and led the whole way to win his heat in 4:20.17, good enough for a PA#2.

Boys' field: Germantown Academy's Kyle Garland took second in an intense battle that had the entire Amrory into it. Garland posted a big PR of 6-6 for second place. That's a new PA#1. Perkiomen Valley's Darnell Randall took second place, clearing 6-4.
