New York Girls State XC Rankings Week 3

Following Week of Saturday, October 3

This is the third State rankings of the season for MileSplit, and it follows a fantastically exciting weekend centered around the huge McQuaid Inviational out by Rochester, along with the Grout, St. Anthony's, Brewster Bear, and Mayor's Cup (NYC) meets. All of the major teams in the state have raced at this point in at least one meet, and the rankings are beginning to sort themselves out.

The McQuaid meet hosted an international cast (talking Canada here) and witnessed some massive performances by teams and runners, with Shenedehowa looking like anything but plain women as they stormed off with team honors, and Elmira's Abbey Wheeler finished as the top NY runner after a scintillating battle with Canadian runner Shona McCulloch.

Many teams were using only partial squads last weekend, and some teams just sent one top runner to McQuaid. We have tried to account for the varying situations with the teams. After a day at McQuaid with many teams boosting their speed ratings by huge amounts, it is understandable why teams that did not run last weekend fell back in the rankings. It's that time of year of big bounds, and it will continue next week at the Manhattan Invitational.

Cheers to all.
