Jacque Meissner, Saucon Valley, finished 3rd in the women's pole vault with a jump of 3.65 meters (11.9 ft.) Devan Coon, Schuylkill Valley, finished 6th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.23. Tony Shirk, Phoenixville, vaulted 4.60 meters (15.09 feet).

Seven meet records fell this year at the Emrey Christmas City Relays. In the girls shot put Gabriella Rinehart, Norristown, set a new mark of 38-07.50 to beat the old mark of 36-10.50 set in 2005 by Danielle Laws, Reading. Hanif Johnson, Harrisburg, set a new mark in the triple jump with a distance of 44-09.25, which breaks the old record of 44-04.25 set in 2006 by Darin Carter, Pottsgrove. In the girls DMR two teams went under the 2005 mark of 13:08.73 set by Saint Pius X. Garden City ran a time of 12:28.88 and Hopewell Valley ran a time of 12:53.91. In the 55 meter dash Fatima Gaston, Reading, set a new mark of 7.32 to go under the 7.38 set by Tiera Smith, Central Dauphin East, in 2006. Esha Wanamaker, Glasgow, ran a 1:00.64 to set a new record in the 400 meter run, beating the old mark of 1:01.45 set in 2006 by Shakeya Ladson-Singleton, Norristown. In the boys 300 dash three runners went under the old mark of 37.94, set by Rico Goldstone, Notre Dame Green Pond, in 2006. Tyquan Brown, Neptune, ran a 37.40, Mike Pearson, Norristown, ran a 37.41, and EJ Hadrick, Norristown, ran a 37.45. In the girls 3200 run Emily Menges, Garden City, won by 52 seconds in a time of 11:16.91, to beat the old record of 11:30.11 set by Sarah Simonetti, Pennridge, in 2005.

Several PA teams ran fantastic early season times at the Marine Corps Holiday Classic at the Armory in New York yesterday. Downingtown girls took second in the girls Sprint Medley Relay with a time of 4:23.50. Central Bucks East also captured second place honors in the 800 meter relay, posting a time of 1:44.81. Ridley girls ran the 1600 meter relay in a time of 4:04.51 to take 3rd.
For the boys side Methacton was all over the board, winning three events and placing 3rd and 4th in two others. Carlton Lavong and Percell Berry led Methacton to the win in the Long Jump Relay with a combined distance of 41-07.00. Wesley Lavong and Joe Nwankwo combined for a distance of 99-05.00 to take top honors in the Shot Put Relay. Percell Berry joined teammate Shane Ordway to win the Pole Vault Relay with a combined leap of 27-00.00. Methacton also took 3rd in the DMR with a time of 10:33.47. Central Bucks East was 5th in 10:36.94. Methacton also took a 4th place finish in the SMR with a time of 3:41.03. Khaliff Featherstone, Gratz, won the Invitational 800 meter run with a fast 1:58.09. Central Bucks East and Gratz placed 3rd and 4th respectively in the 1600 meter relay with times of 3:30.55 and 3:30.65.

12/28 -12/30 Colgate Women's Games Week #1 @ Pratt Institute, NY

At the first of four preliminary rounds of this year's Colgate Women's Games held at Pratt Institute in New York, Penn Charter's Elyse Wilkinson posted two strong parks, taking 2nd in the 800 in 2:20.2 and 4th in the 400 in 59.8. Upper Dublin's Vicky Gocht went 2:23.3 and 1:00.1 in the same events. Syeeda Gee, Engineering & Science, captured 2nd in the 1500 in 4:51.4 and ran 2:25.2 for 6th in the 800.
12/28 Robert J. Burdette Indoor Classic @ Lehigh University

Two meet records fell today at the Robert J. Burdette Indoor Classic. In the boys pole vault Tony Shirk, Phoenixville, soared to a height of 15-01.00 to win the event by over 2.5 feet. The other meet record fell in the boys 4x800 meter relay, with the North Penn boys running a time of 8:06.13 to win by over 6 seconds over Penncrest. Two fast early season times were also run in the girls 4x800 with West Chester Henderson winning in 9:58.17 and North Penn 2nd in 10:00.39. Ryann Krais sent fire down the track, running the 60 meter hurdles in a blazing time of 8.68, which was only .08 off of her best time last year. Krais also took the 200 meters in a time of 25.68. Krais also ran a 24.8 split in the 4x200 to bring Methacton from last to 4th after her teammate had a fall. Folarin Ijelu, Wissahickon, triple-jumped 46-02.50 to win his specialty by close to 3 feet. Karen Shump continues to dominate the girls Shot Put event with a put of 46-07.75, winning by over 3.5 feet. Paul Robeson took 3 relay wins with the 4x200 in a time of 1:48.21 (Katurrah Hayman - 27.1, Nikeyah Stafford- 26.8, Iyisha Weaver- 27.4, Dashera Richardson- 26.3), the 4x400 with a time of 4:05.68 (Katurah Hayman- 1:02, Anya Curtis- 1:01, Shatievah Lewis- 1:02, Dashera Richardson- 59.3), and the DMR with a time of 13:18.23 (Anya Curtis- 3:58, Dashera Richardson- 1:00, Quanisha Grimes- 2:29, Shatievah Lewis- 5:48). Dashera Richardson was an integral part in all three wins as she anchored both sprint relays and ran the 400 leg of the DMR. Mike Palmisano, Upper Dublin, won the boys 800 in a close race with North Penn's Zack Montijo, (in photo) 1:58.20 to 1:58.42. Rules are rules, and even the top athletes fall victim at times, however, Chanelle Price still deserves recognition for what would have been a very fast 2:08-point in the 800 meter run. Price also split a 56-point in the 4x400, showing that we are all in for some fireworks at the end of the season.
