2014 Indoor Track Coaches Council: Round One

MileSplit HQ - New York has long been known as one of the strongest states for Track and Field in the Nation.  We hold numerous national records, while our state records are deeper and more diverse than almost any other state around.   Much of this success can be attributed to the quality of coaching our athletes receive.

Even within itself, New York State can see a very diverse population of programs and priorities.  Late this Fall, we assembled a cross-section of coaches from across the
Empire State, to get their opinions on some of the key issues within our sport.  We call it, the Coaches Council.

Each Thursday this season, we'll be releasing their responses to one of our key questions.  Each set of responses entails almost two centuries worth of collective coaching experience.  And with that experience, comes varying opinions and beliefs about how to effectively work within the sport.

Serving as moderator, here was our first question to the panel.  Admittedly, it was a light question in terms of subject matter, yet it provided some interesting results.  My expected response was only given by about half of the panel, while the others went in a different direction.

What has been the biggest change you have observed in the profession in the past 5-10 years?
