New York Boys State XC Rankings Week 4

New York State XC Rankings

Following Week of Saturday, October 11

The Week 4 rankings center on the races of the Manhattan Invitational. Fayetteville-Manlius, Liverpool, and St. Anthony's recorded a stunning achievement as they all ran ahead of the US #1 ranked Christian Brothers Academy-Linford (NJ) in the Eastern States race, which CBA had won the previous three years. The performance by the top three teams moved them into 1st, 5th and 11th in the national rankings. Fordham Prep and Shenendehowa also ran in Eastern States and finished in the top 10 of the meet's merge results, and Guilderland and Cicero-North Syracuse won Letter races at the meet.

In other meets of ranking importance, Corning won at the Bob Greene-Newark Valley meet, Arlington won the big Burnt Hills-3 race, East Aurora won the Alden Bulldog-Large race, and Beaver River won its hosted meet.

The Manhattan merge team results was used to help sort out the Class A teams to a great extent for teams that did not run in the same races there, so the effect is something like having more than 2300 runners from more than 230 teams all heading for the Cow Path together, which for the guys is actually business as usual. Also note that though some of the sectional League meets were included in speed ratings last week, they have been mainly ignored because a large proportion of the teams appear to not be taking them very seriously, which leads to big bounces in TRs.
